BIG Brother star Makosi Musambasi claims that ALL African men have polygamous tendencies, and hails South African President Jacob Zuma as an “honest man” for marrying three wives.
Makosi said: “People are up in arms because Jacob Zuma has married a third wife.
“For me, a third wife is better than a concubine ... all married African men have a concubine, and we should be thankful that some are just honest about it, like Zuma.”
Zuma married his third wife two weeks ago, and his office revealed he had paid bride price for a fourth woman.
Traditionalist Zuma was blasted by women’s groups and health campaigners who say polygamy degrades women and his polygamous marriages are hindering an HIV/Aids campaign for men to keep a single partner and reduce promiscuity.
But Zuma’s supporters say polygamy is part of Zulu tradition, and insist the President has done nothing wrong.
Makosi told New Zimbabwe.com: “I dont know how to say this without upsetting someone, but few married African men can stand up and claim they have never cheated.
“In Zimbabwe, they actually have a name for the second or third wife – ‘small house'. It’s a poor attempt to disguise or sanitise polygamy.
“This is why we should support Zuma for being an honest man, and refusing to brand his lovers ‘small houses’ or some other such terms.
“It is something that needs looking at why African men are incapable of loving one woman.
“Morgan Tsvangirai had two women before Susan left us, God bless her soul. Nelson Mandela started off with Graca before he finished with Winnie, and Robert Mugabe had Grace before Sally died.
“So the moral indignation over Zuma’s polygamy is a phoney protest. Let the African man who is without sin cast the first stone.”
