ZIMBABWE’S 2012 Olympic effort will have a soundtrack.

With the London Olympics fast-approaching, Zimbabwe looks forward to the world’s premier sporting event with a lot of optimism, buoyed by the potential of sprinter Brian Dzingai (Track) and swimming ace Kirsty Coventry.

The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) has put in a lot of work preparing for the games which run from July 27 to August 12, and now they have received some patriotic and unexpected support through music.

The ZOC has put its seal on a catchy new tune ‘Sizophakama – Higher’ produced by the UK-based Abra Records and featuring an impressive cast of young musicians.

The track features the vocal talents of Josmas (Joseph Mashoko), Tytan (Njabulo Nkomo), Chipo Sarudzai (Chipo Mushuku), Jusa Dementor (Tawanda Sibotshiwe), Afrizim Arts (Tafirenyika Mushuku), Tererai Mugwadi and Pauline Gundidza.

The song, which is loaded with Afrocentric sounds and chants, is produced by Jusa Dementor with a blend of English, Shona and Ndebele lyrics.
