SOUTH African stars Splash, Dalom Kids and Patricia Majalisa next weekend embark on their first UK tour in more than five years.

The artists, all from Dan Tshanda’s Dalom Music, are expected to draw a full house at the Starlite in Leicester for the one-off gig on October 27.

Promoter Phil Wakabikwa said: “We have been pushing this show since July, and nothing can go wrong. We sold more than 500 advance tickets already and it’s shaping up to be a great night.”

Splash frontman Tshanda is one of the most enduring names in music – and is at home performing across Southern Africa. Their last gig was in Bulawayo earlier this month where riots broke out when a huge crowd turned up and cashiers were unable to let them in fast enough.

Dalom Music’s unique brand of sound has secured the stable a cult following. Splash, Dalom Kids and Patricia Majalisa’s hits have been the anthems of shebeens in Bulawayo from the 1990s to this day.

From Splash’s 1980s hit Peacock, the 1990s smash Crocodile to Bayethe after the turn of the millennium, Dan Tshanda has managed to stay true to his sound in a fast-changing musical landscape.

Travelling the road with him have been Dalom Kids – now middle-aged mums – who brought us hits such as Izindunduma, Ndincedeni and Nomathemba.

Majalisa, after a break from Dalom Music, has returned to where it all started. She is famed for hits such as Uwe (Umqophoqopho), Themba Lami, Diyeke and Tshomi Yami.

Splash, Dalom Kids and Patricia Majalisa – all under one roof – fits the billing ‘Blockbuster Tour’ as dubbed by the promoters.

Watch Splash, Dalom Kids and Patricia Majalisa live with full band at the Starlite, 80 Wharf Street, Leicester, LE1 2AA, on Saturday, October 27, 2012. Advance Tickets £25. Doors Open: 9PM-4.30AM. Call 07940305999 or 07576943494 or 07950904247 for more information
