THE Premier Soccer League has released its 2010 fixtures with the games scheduled to start on 27 March, although continental commitments could put paid to those hopes.
Four teams-Dynamos and Gunners (Champions League) and CAPS United and Lengthens are involved in continental ties later this month and in April.
This means the early-season big clashes Dynamos vs Highlanders (Week Two), CAPS United vs Dynamos (Week Three) and CAPS United vs Highlanders in Week Five will have to be rescheduled to accommodate the continental ties.
What has further complicated issues for new PSL fixtures secretary Musa Gwasira is that on March 27, the Warriors will be playing Swaziland in the second leg of the African Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifiers in Harare.
This competition involves players from the local league only, and Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa has indicated that he wants the strongest possible side as he starts preparations for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers that start in September.
Also on March 27, ZIFA will be having their board elections.
But Gwasira wants a perfect start.
"We looked at all the bottle necks and said we cannot have the league starting in April as there will be a one month break due to the World Cup and continental competitions. So the league will have to start on that day," he said.
Reigning champions Gunners open the new season with a clash against Dynamos while newly-promoted Douglas Warriors and Black Mambas have tough assignments against CAPS United and Highlanders respectively.
