The Awards were held at the HICC on Friday 13th February.

^ Various acts performed during the awards ceremony. In the main picture above is an Apostolic Faith choir. In the top inset is a dancer from introductory collage. Bottom inset is businessman Phillip Chiyangwa announcing one of the award winners.

^ Gospel diva Fungisai Zvakavapo-Mashavave. Insets, Rumbi a presenter on ZTV and poet Albert Nyathi take turns to present prizes.

^ Raggae artist, Manikongo got the audience excited. So did Thanda Richardson (top inset) and Junior Bantan (lower inset) when they did a funkified version of the National Anthem.

^ Ignatius Mabasa won the award for Outstanding Work of Fiction. Top inset is Wonder Pinchisi singing the theme song for the awards “A People No Boundaries.” The other inset shows Comfort Mbofana and one of the stage assistants for the evening.

^ Maria Wilson of the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) receives a special award on behalf of the festival. HIFA was honoured along with ZBCtv for their service to the arts. Also honoured was Douglas Vambe (lower inset), the composer of the ZBC News drum beat. He composed the beat in the early 1960s and it is still in use today. Top inset shows renowned sculptor, Dominic Benhura, opening an enverlope to announce one of the award winners.

^ IYASA provided a magical performance. The insets show other entertainment acts from the evening.

^ The most anticipated act of the night, Freshly Ground did not dissapoint. For around an hour they had the crowd on its feet, singing along and totally mesmerised. Insets: left, Ndolwane Super Sounds and right, Winky D. The latter, whose songs are currently doing well on the PowerFM charts, also had a resounding response from the audience.

^ Tongai Moyo and Alick Macheso ended the evening- make that morning- off. The main picture shows Tongai’s dancers in action. Top inset is Dewa himself. Lower inset is the crowd enjoying Moyo’s music. They were there till the wee hours of Saturday morning.
