Haiti: Where was God?

THE world has been truly stunned by the images coming into our living rooms from the massive earthquake which violently shook the earth’s crust just beneath Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince.

The sight of the desperate earthquake survivors working their bleeding hands to the bone to free those still trapped under the concrete rubble brought tears to my eyes.

At first, I could not bear the sight of such human suffering in an already impoverished country and quickly turned the TV off. President Obama amply described the quake as “cruel”.

A similar incident happened a few years ago in a different place. On December 26, 2004, there was an extreme fracture of the earth’s crust somewhere out in the Indian Ocean. This caused great tidal waves to go racing towards Indonesia and other island nations and left hundreds of thousands dead.

Some accounts say the ocean first receded, leaving fish, shells and other beautiful things stranded and exposed on the seashore. Folks on the beach could not believe their luck as they beheld the shells. Then suddenly, without warning, they came face to face with this great wall of liquid death racing at 500 miles per hour towards them.

Over 200,000 people died. Among them were honeymooners, intent on pleasure and happiness together, and a number of tourists.

Nations quickly put aside their ideological differences and came together to ponder what could be done. There was a diligent search for bodies, the rich and the poor, the educated and the illiterate, all equal in death.

One puzzle though, there was no carcasses of pets and other domestic animals, not even those of elephants and the buffaloes. It was obvious that these creatures somehow received and heeded a warning that humans had not been able to receive and left for higher ground earlier, thus avoiding the stampede.

The only animals that died were those that were chained or restricted. Only the supposedly intelligent human beings took no action, perhaps distracted by worldly pleasures and business pursuits.

I’m told animals have an in-built system of knowing when disaster will strike and are therefore able to take appropriate action. Over and over we hear of how animals had a head start over humans before calamity strikes. I’m sure even in Haiti, most animals left the danger areas well before the quake struck. God put this sharp sense in them.

Sharks too can detect the smell of one drop of blood in one million drops of water. Owls can hear the footsteps of a mouse half a kilometre away while elephant feet are padded in such a way that they can feel any movements of the tectonic plates. But we are not sharks, neither are we birds of prey, nor are we elephants. How are we to receive warning signals, you may ask? Through the Holy Bible!

The Bible warns that before Jesus Christ’s second coming, earth’s condition would be like in the days of Noah and also of Lot. According to the Genesis accounts, the earth in Noah’s time was filled with violence.

Look at today’s newspapers, and you’ll know that we are there. Even the UK government has considered arming the police with firearms to protect them.

What about in Lot’s day, how was it? The principal sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was sodomy and it’s the name of a pervasion in our day that is being voted as legitimate and acceptable in civilised and so-called Christian nations all over the first world. If you don’t go along with it you are in deep trouble and labelled as intolerant.

Talk show audiences around the world gaze star-struck as celebrities and ordinary folks appear saying “we’re coming out.” Then they jeer at anyone who dares stand up for God.

Even the clergy who are supposed to be holding high God’s banner are themselves perverts and will proudly tell you all about it. No wonder the average person would rather go watch a football match than go to church! But this is symptomatic of the days of our lives, the last days.

“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” [Matthew 24:7-8].

According to Jesus, worse is still to come. You ain’t seen nothing yet. For one thing, as we near the end, powerful quakes like this one will strike with increasing frequency and intensity. Watch what Revelation 16:18 says: “And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.”

Am I trying to scare anyone? The answer is Yes! I hope to God I can before it’s too late!

Some people are quick to point fingers and think the Haitians “called” this upon themselves by doing evil things. Are the Haitians more evil than other people? No. I respectfully disagree. It’s just the times. A similar incident happened in Christ’s day and He commented thus: “… those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” [Luke 13:4-5].

In insurance, they term such catastrophes “acts of God” but they are really the acts of the devil. The devil would like to kill us all if he had his way but Christ intervenes to protect us. It is, therefore, by the mercy of God that we are living today.

“…The earth will grow old like a garment, and those who dwell in it will die in like manner; but My salvation will be forever, and My righteousness will not be abolished.” [Isaiah 51:6].

When I was younger, and didn’t have much in the way of clothes, my garment would grow old and thread bare and tear up at the seats and my mother would mend it. But no sooner would they tear up on the sides and my mother would mend it and then to the front and so on.

God says the earth is waxing old similarly. It tears up in Cambodia and nations rush to mend it, then it’s Greece and they run to mend it, then it’s China and they run to mend it, then it’s Haiti and they run to mend it, then it’s Zimbabwe, and they will run to mend it.

Most people are tired of this place but don’t know where to look for answers. Some look to the forthcoming elections as an answer to their problems, hoping on a new government would help. No! It will be more of the same things, at best. Look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Only He can satisfy the yearning of our hearts.

Our life span here on earth Biblically is around 70 years (Psalms 90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten …). Our days on earth are filled with trouble, trials and illnesses. Moses appeared on the Mount of Transfiguration, a man of over 1,500 years of age, he did not have arthritis or back problems or any such illness that affect our aged.

God is promising us eternity, so if He would shorten my days on earth by just a few hours in exchange for eternal salvation will that not be great? Let’s stop asking God why He could allow even babies to die in the rubble of Haiti, but rather trust Him because He looks at things from an eternal perspective unlike us.

After all, didn’t Jesus allow His own cousin and forerunner, the one about whom He said, “among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist” to be beheaded by the adulterous king Herod? (Matthew 11:11).

John had heard that Jesus was in the vicinity and wondered why he is not being set free from prison. He then sent two of his aides to go and ask, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”

Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: “The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” (Matthew 11:3-6).

Friends, do not allow yourself to be offended of Jesus or the enemy will take away your salvation. Trust Him even when things don’t make sense.

When we come to the end of our journeys, wouldn’t it be great to hear the Lord say: “Well done, you good and faithful servant: you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things, now enter into the joy of Lord.”

So, where was God when the Haiti earthquake occurred? He was at exactly the same place He was when His only begotten Son, Jesus, died on the cross that Friday afternoon almost 2,000 years ago. His throne is an everlasting throne!

Lot, as far as I understand the Bible, God created the universe. He therefore has power to prevent a small thing like an earthquake or tsunami. Am I right? So you are saying God gave in to the devil to kill His children? Why would He do that? Please answer me.

Well done Lot for displaying your buffoonery and lack of knowledge. You claim to be a book worm but your analysis of events in Haiti and around the world leaves a lot to be desired. You lack sound knowledge nor are you properly schooled in the area of theology. Do you think that the God of the bible is an ogre waiting for people to misbehave and then unleash heinous punishment on them? I think not. The God of the bible that i know is slow to anger, compassionate, not wanting anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9)
This same God is also Holy, visits the iniqiuty of people even to the third genartion and punishes all sin. But this does not mean that He unleashes a reing of terror on people and desroys the entire nation just because of some people who sin. Did you ever ask yourself why God destroyed Sodom? Because of sin, that would be your normal. But i know that your head is full of notions, your judgement blocked by prejudice and your heart devoid of conscience.. Yes sin proliferated in Sodom much to the disgust of God, but God ended up destroying Sodom because He found not one righteous person in Sodom. Abraham tried to expostulate with God that if He was to find at least 5 righteous people He should not destroy Sodom. God did not find one, apart from your namesake- Lot.
People like you are a disgrace to Christianity. You give Christianity a bad name. Did you ever think that Haiti might have suffered the way it did because us Christians did and still do not intercede for nations? Did you ever ask yourself how many christains are there in Haiti, not just weak Christians, but praying Christains, whose prayers would have kept those calamities at bay?. Look at the Uk with all the sins, but God has not punished the nation. How do you account for that? Some disasters are as a result of natural occurence, so please do not try to spiritualise everything. Pray for the nations do not criticise. Please, check your doctrine next time before your utter pure nonsense.

Most deaths were a result of house rumble knocking, burying and suffocating people. Elephants and buffaloes don’t live in roofed, brick and mortar houses.
You all don’t have answers to the disaster. Maybe we stand in the way of these natural occurrence. If a tree fall in the forest that’s not a disaster. But if a family was sitting underneath it is a disaster.
We definitely know nothing about God, so you should all stop speculating about his role….

Deuteronomy 28 is the summary of prophecy of trials and tribulations of people of Africa who happen to be the descendents of the Hebrews of the Books of Moses. Below I have picked four verses in relation to this article.
32 Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
22 The Creator shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
23 And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
24 The Creator shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

    i) Indeed African sons were taken by another people and sent to slavery, Det 32 fulfilled.
ii) In slavery African people are subjected to all the demeaning episodes in life and disasters possible on this earth.
iii) Some of these disasters are motivated by moral decadence among the former slaves. They have forsaken African/Hebrew code of conduct, some of them have joined sodomy, nudity, promiscuity of their hosts and such disasters are bound to come but what makes their life worse than ours is slavery which placed them in inhabitable places prone to earthquakes and storms.
iv) Animals necessarily do not have inbuilt system of detecting disasters but that disasters are a result of iniquities and animals have no iniquity, when disaster come their way, they are whisked away by heaven.
    v) Jesus, the son of Joseph is dead and buried and is not coming back again for the redemption of anyone.

Men can’t stop natural disasters. These are ways for God to get the attention of the people. Nations unite when disaster faces them. Soon Nations will blame Christians and their God, then Sunday Law…..then the Second Coming.

It is better to die, a believer than to wake up in the Resurrection to see that God is real.

Some things don’t make human logic but the righteous are saved by faith.

    Keep up the good work!

Where was god when Africans were being butchered, raped, expropriated and enslaved? Oh yeah the christian god was working with them?

Where was god when colonialist invaders destroyed Africa politically, militarily and economically while Christians missionaries were destroying Africa religiously and culturally?

The correct question is where were we and what can we do now to prevent it. Strengthening Haiti by promoting local development and end of detrimental outside influence (ousting of Aristide by the US/France for example, support of Duvalier dictatorship etc). WE must change that. Hence next time maybe a big earthquake won’t have such a destructive impact.

Masiane YOU ARE SO WRONG. THAT EARTHQUAKE AND OTHER RECENT EVENTS ARE NOT AT ALL OMINOUS BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION!!

For your own information, if you look at the history of the world, from its formation 4.5 Billion years ago. Yes 4.5 billion years my dear!! You will find that thousands of more severe events happened. The first of which is the very formation of this earth as we know it, read, the BIG BANG. Read a little my friend and stop playing around with people’s fear of death by invoking unfounded and baseless theories about the “after-life”. Far more severe Earthquakes have rocked this planet, e.g. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/2059330.stm
Mind you the fact that more than 200 000 people are presumed to have died in the Haitian earthquake does not reflect any more on the severity of the quake itself than on the unpreparedness of the Haitian people, i.e, poor infrastructure thanks to years of underdevelopment due to rampant corruption, etc. Nothing ominous there. If you read a little bit more, you will come across some literature mentioning that the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Texas predicted this earthquake as early as 2008!! http://www.jsg.utexas.edu/news/rels/011310.html, READ, READ, READ. STOP PLAYING WITH PEOPLE’S FEAR OF DEATH BY MAKING YOURSELF OUT TO BE GOD’S SPOKESMAN.

  • The spirit and the bride

“Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. Revelation 22.17 It is foolish to think that the “bride” in Revelations is the church. Its foolish to think that a word in the bible has only one meaning. John 21.15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” here you see that Jesus says feed my lambs, meaning the saints, the children of god. jesus is the shepherd. Now take a look at John 1.29The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! here jesus is the lamb of God. So after reading these verses can anyone insist that one word has only one meaning? Thats why its so important to understand the context in which the word is being used. So why do people insist that the bride is the church? go to. Ephesians 5.22-33 So here you can see the the wife (bride) is the church. so yes when people say the bride is the church they are right in this context. How about in revelations? Take a look at.. Revelation 19.7Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Here in the wedding of the Lamb, the lamb is second coming christ. Think about it, if it was the lamb (the saints) has come and his bride (the saints, which is the church) has made herself ready, would that make any sense? ofcourse not. Now go to. Revelation 21.9 “One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.” So here you see that the Bride is the wife of the Lamb (Second coming Christ) So what is her purpose and why is it important that we know who she is? What does she bring? Revelation 22.17The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.” She gives the water of life, which is eternal life. only the spirit and the bride can give it. but who is the only one that can give eternal life? God Can a church give eternal life? Can anyone give anything to someone that they do not have? No. Only who is eternal that can give eternal life? Revelation 21.6He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.” Here it says the alpha and the omega, the begginning and the end will give the water of life. now can a church be the alpha and the omega? the beggining and the end? if a church did say that, it would be putting itself up like god and that would be blasphemy. Eve also has more than one meaning in the bible, lets find out. Go to… 2 Corinthians 2.2I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. 3But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. ” Eve is in the garden and mother to us all but here you see that we are the saints and being compared to Eve. What about Adam? Romans 5.14Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.” Here you see that no only is there Adam in the garden with eve but also another Adam yet to come? The 2nd coming Christ. 1 Corinthians 15.45 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.” Here you see the last Adam will be a life giving spirit. But if there is a last Adam shouldn’t there be a last eve? Revelation 22.17The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.” Now after reading this is there a verse in the bible that says the church can give the “water of
life”? No. you can find who does though. In the book of Jeremiah 2.13 “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”
Here the Lord God say that he is the living water.
Jeremiah 17.13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the LORD, the spring of living water.” Here again the lord Jehovah says he is the spring of te living water! Who gave the water of life in the age of the son? Jesus. Let’s confirm. John 4.14but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Here Jesus says he will give the water of life. But who is the only one that can give eternal life. God. Who is going to give the water in the last days? Revelation 22.17The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.” remember according to 21.6He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.” who is the only one that can give eternal life? God almighty. the alpha and the omega. So who is the bride? Revelation 21.9One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.” the bride of the lamb is the Holy city Jerusalem, coming down from heaven. So what does Jerusalem represent in the bible? Galatians 4.26But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.” Just as we have a heavenly father, we also have a heavenly mother. so go to her and receive the free gift of the water of life.

Revelation 21.9One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.” the bride of the lamb is the Holy city Jerusalem, coming down from heaven. thinking day

When I lost my job almost exactly one year ago, I immediately began looking for work both in Huntsville, Alabama and in Memphis, Tennessee. I came in contact with the Church Health Center in Memphis and signed on to do some volunteer work. I met with directors and editors and took home faith-related books to review. Then I found a job in retail, then a few months later I landed the job I have now. In between I was juggling being a newly married woman and living on my salary alone for the two of us. I had, to say the least, a lot to figure out.

The books lay neglected in my bookshelves, forgotten and dusty. A few days ago I received an e-mail asking me to bring the books back if I was not going to review them. I mentally calculated the months I had these books in my possession, and then the months of empty promises of reviews I had committed.

This weekend I opened the first of three books I took home last year, called “Making Poverty Personal” by Ash Barker. I diligently took notes, read carefully, and then found myself skimming through the last third of the book. I tried to explain what lacked in the book to Stephen, and I couldn’t. The message was clear, and good. Everything was oriented in scripture. But…I don’t know. I didn’t jump up and run out the door to DO something.

Now, because I am a Thomson and my father’s child, I feel I MUST complete this task. But I don’t know where to begin. Perhaps I was the wrong reader for this book. I referenced a number of my own books, from the desert abbas to Joachim Jeremias. As the day dragged on, I found other things to occupy my time, rather than writing. The challenge is, how do I make this message and call relevant, interesting, and motivational?

I think for me, this task is less about saying whether a book is good or not and more about providing some sort of hope. Stephen and I live below the poverty line, intentionally, but we are not poor in spirit, and we have the kind of life that is full and happy. But many are not so fortunate. The poor and impoverished in spirit have been a central theme in Christian teachings since the ministry of Jesus, yet it is so easily ignored. We tend to think as Americans that poverty exists in slums in third world countries, or on commercials advertising sponsorship for African children.

As we see our own American economy decline, and as it is sure to only get worse in the coming years, more Americans that never thought about “being poor” are now dealing with the very realities that come with loss of income. Those who exist solely in their belongings have identity crises because their self-worth cannot be tied to what they own. What will their friends think? What will their children, their parents say? Poverty, as it seems, is not just a bank account–it is indeed a state of mind.

For those who are wrapped up in what they own, in the “right” lifestyle, in the “right” stuff, Jesus’ message may fall a little flat. The attitude is off. They are self-suffering, martyrs to their own god of money. But for the downtrodden, the working man and woman, the child on free lunch, the mother working two and three jobs to pay bills, Jesus’ message is a ray of light and hope. A day of judgment will come. God is both mighty and merciful, and He is not blind to the injustice that happens in this country and around the world. Greed will be punished. Those who take so others may not have will be judged on the day of reckoning. Jesus came with a sword to judge the quick and the dead.

So where are we in all of this? What is, in fact, our call?

We look after the least of these. Whatever our talent, we use that to the greater glory of God’s will. We feed people, we clothe them, we house them, we educate their children with the best resources. We elect officials who will care for those who have no voice. We will sacrifice so that all of God’s children can live a life of peace, happiness, and light. We will look around us, at the things we do not need, at the wealth we have amassed, and we will strive for something Higher, Greater, more heavenly. We will give our riches to the poor, and we will, yes, we will, take up that cross and march to Higher Ground.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, Amen.

There is no god!!! The Haitians were not properly prepared for such a disaster. Areas prone too earthquakes should build their dwellings accordingly. Brick and mortar is the wrong way to go. So Haiti is a result of the infrastructure being poor. Earthquakes like this happen in japan all the time, but without the deaths you saw i haiti because the japanese are well prepared.

To begin with, earthquakes and environmental occurrences have been associated with manifestations of divine power. When God delivered the Ten Commandments from Mount Sinai, it was accompanied by thunder, lighting, thick clouds, smoke, and a great earthquake (Exodus 19:18). Jesus Christ’s death was marked by a major earthquake to reinforce God’s presence and power (Matthew 27:54; 28:2). However God on other occasion will bring earthquakes and natural disasters to strike the rebellious in order to teach lessons or bring His righteous judgments. For example, God used an earthquake to strike down the rebellion of Korah against Moses and the leadership God had chosen. Hence, “the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods” (Numbers 16:32). Since Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, natural disasters have plagued mankind. Because Adam also chose to rebel against God, his descendants would have to struggle with the created environment to survive. Adam was told that “Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return” (Genesis 3:17-19). However, God has occasionally intervened in the course of human endeavors to bring blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. He told Israel, “But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments…I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze…and your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit…. And I will bring a sword against you that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; when you are gathered together within your cities I will send pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy…when I have cut off your supply of bread” (Leviticus 26:14,19-20,25-26).
God also on occasions, allows Satan to use various natural disasters to hurt or destroy people or their possessions. Job and his family, servants, animals and property were victims of Satan’s direct attacks. In one day marauders killed with swords, fire from the sky struck and a great wind storm blew down Job’s home, killing all his children. He lost nearly all of his physical possessions and immediate family (Job 1:13-19). God allowed Satan to humble Job, teaching him valuable lessons. Eventually, God in His mercy restored to Job twice as much as he had lost (Job 42:10). At the time of the end Satan will inspire his representative, the false prophet, to perform signs and wonders using some natural looking phenomena like fire falling from heaven (Revelation 13:13). Some signs will be similar to those used by the Egyptian magicians. As a counterfeit to the miracles of God’s power working through Moses, they brought natural disasters, rivers turning to blood, frogs, lice and flies plaguing the land (Exodus 7:21-22; 8:7,18). Earthquakes, and other natural disasters, will be major signs of God’s power in the countdown of events leading toward the time of the end. They will be orchestrated by supernatural powers. God’s end time servants, the “two witnesses,” will be able to use fire to devour their enemies. They will “shut heaven, that it rain not in the day of their prophecy: and have power over waters, to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will” (Revelation 11:3-6 KJV). In addition, “thunders, and lightnings, and an earthquake,” will precede the seven trumpet plagues and seven last plagues that bring massive destructive disaster to the ecosystem (Revelation 8:5-13; 11:19; 16:1-21; Joel 1:15-20; 2:1-12).
More unseen disasters are yet to come, especially during the Armageddon, a horrendous time when the forces of evil will, for a while, be given free rein. How near are we to that apocalyptic time described by Christ—a time when, “unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved [alive]“? (Matthew 24:22). Jesus’ words are a stark warning for humanity. Thankfully, He stated in the same verse that “for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened”—that is, for the sake of His chosen followers, those who have chosen to follow Him. Indeed, God cares for all humanity, “not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
Perhaps to summarise the omnipotence of God, He says “I form the light and create darkness; I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things”, (Isaiah 45:7). Brethren, do not be deceived, “Only a fool says in his heart: There is no God” (Psalm 14:1). I hope you will blessed by this message.

    Good article… i liked this paragraph…

“…Even the clergy who are supposed to be holding high God’s banner are themselves perverts and will proudly tell you all about it. No wonder the average person would rather go watch a football match than go to church!…”

I agree 100% that churches are full of perverts, philanderers, pretenders, hypocrites. It’s like some people just go to church to appease their neighbours and mates or simply to show off their material possessions. Very few go there for spiritual purposes.

However I disagree that the Haiti holocaust (and Tsunami) were an act of Evil. NO. It’s is common knowledge to every Tom and Jerry that the earth’s crust is laden with fault lines and active Volcanoes. This a natural processes that control the structure, shape, temperature, air and moisture of the same earth we thank God for. What then do we expect when we build a city on top of an well-known fault line (or just by the door steps of a volcano – Nyiragongo in Congo). It is in fact mankind’s fault. Should we blame Lucifer for all those Hurricanes and Tornadoes that rip thru the Caribbean every year??? NO. Neither should God be blamed for a drought that’s threatening to wipe our neighbours across Limpopo River!

Come to think of it, someone flies all the way from Harare to be swallowed by a Shark in Cape Town and you blame Satan…..NO! Humans, being greedy as we are tend to wander in other creatures’ natural habitats and hunting grounds and when they get defensive and strike back, we cry foul.

It’s just funny that anything that breaches the extreme boundaries has to be someone’s fault!

Satan and his servants will attack and condemn those of you who speak the truth, people of Haiti Gave satan the legal right to attack them,by worshipping the devil (voodoo),dont blame god for that in the western world there is suffering because of their disobidiance from the lord dont believe the nonsense that you read in the press which by the way represents the interests of satan in the western world, there is poverty stress and millions live on welfare living a miserable existence.,all this is kept hidden by the same press but they are quick to show images of starvation and suffering in the so-called third world , on this earth man is still a very small and insignicant thing dont be fooled by the so-called advances in science God is the almighty king.the devil has clouded your small minds.and your suffering will never end until you repent.

Hey folks, lets get a grip on reality. Like I said before, the Haitian earthquake was well known to be due in the scientific community (as early as 2008)! PLEASE STOP HALLUCINATING ABOUT A DIFFERENT EXPLANATION. The fact is that since the last earthquake in the Caribbean region in 1770, the tectonic plates have been sliding past each other at a rate of 7 mm a year on average. Now that adds up to over 1.68 metres of stress over the past 240 years, good enough for a 7. 2 magnitude earthquake. http://www.jsg.utexas.edu/news/rels/011310.html
Religion grew in the past 2000 years or so because man needed an explanation of such things as this earthquake. In the absence of provable scientific knowledge, explaining things away as the work of God, if they are good, or the work of Satan, if they are bad, gave man the peace of mind he needed. BUT it is high time we use the knowledge available to us and see things just as they appear. EARTHQUAKES ARE NORMAL EVENTS WHICH DID NOT START RECENTLY AND WILL NOT STOP AT ALL AS LONG AS TECTONIC PLATES KEEP FLOATING ON MOLTEN MAGMA AS THEY DO.
There is a good reason why some among us want to continue propagating these fantastic theories about the “after-life”, “heaven”, “hell” and all these myths. The reason is that such people have carved up little niches of social power for themselves over time and do not want to let go of the positions they occupy in society. To maintain their “power” people like Masiane here, need you and I to remain in perpetual fear of the mystery of death. I HATE RELIGION, IN ALL ITS DENOMINATIONS, because it is partly to blame for the poverty in Africa and the rest of the “third world”. RELIGION DISEMPOWERS US TO BELIEVE THAT WE WILL LIVE A BETTER LIFE alright, but wait, IN HEAVEN! SO THAT WE DO NOT ASPIRE FOR A BETTER LIFE HERE ON EARTH. What a shrewd idea to keep people in line.
