LOVEMORE Moyo was elected Speaker of Parliament on Tuesday after MPs voted 105 to 93 in his favour over Zanu PF’s Simon Khaya Moyo in a bitterly-contested race.
The result is a major blow to Zanu PF as it shows that at least three of the party’s MPs voted for Lovemore Moyo, also the chairman of the MDC party led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.
Lovemore Moyo resigned as Speaker on March 10 after the Supreme Court nullified his 2008 election when it was challenged by three MPs, led by Tsholotsho North legislator Jonathan Moyo (Zanu PF).
