ZSE flat, market cap up

HARARE: The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange  ZSE remained largely flat on Wednesday, gaining 0.08 percent to close at 124.95 points, while the mining index remained unchanged at 35.73 points.

Market capitalisation edged up from $3,440 billion recorded the previous day to $3,442 billion.

Volumes traded were however down 16 percent from 5,620 million shares to 4,718 million. Total turnover also decreased to $309,752 from  $610,638 recorded in the previous day.

ZPI picked up 6,67 percent to close at 0.8 cents. Lafarge advanced 4 percent to settle at 25 cents while PPC and Zimplow were both up 3 percent to 50 cents and 2.27 cents respectively.

Fidelity was the only counter to trade in the negative after easing 9,09 percent to settle at 10 cents.

There were no trades recorded on the mining space.

Foreigners sold off shares worth $190,275 and no foreign purchases were recorded on the day.
