Man rapes, impregnates teenage sister

A CHIWUNDURA man, 29, returned drunk from a local bottle store and raped his sleeping teenage sister resulting in her getting pregnant, a Midlands court heard last week.

The man, whose name cannot be revealed to protect the identity of the sister, was remanded in custody to January 23 when he appeared before Gweru magistrate Getrude Mayenyeso.

According to prosecutor Ernest Muzembi, the attack occurred between November and December last year. The siblings were living together at a local school with the girl in Form Four.

The court heard that on the night of the attack the brother returned drunk from a local bottle store and found the sister sleeping in her bedroom hut.

He then armed himself with a knife and proceeded to rape the girl, threatening unspecified consequences if she dared reveal the attack.

The abuse however came to light when it was discovered that the girl was pregnant.

After being quizzed she revealed that her brother was responsible.

A report was made to the police leading to his arrest.
