A MAN hanged himself after his family objected to his plan to marry a second wife.

Sibangani Ndou, 28, was found hanging from a tree in Tshapfutshe Village, Beitbridge, last Sunday.

Hours earlier, he had rowed with his family over his plan to marry a second woman.

Police have ruled out foul play and waived a post mortem, allowing the family to bury Ndou on Wednesday.

His mother Sophia Ndou said: “We had a dispute with our son after he had indicated that he wanted to marry another wife and bring her to our home. It seems that did not go down well with him and he then decided to commit suicide.

“The woman that my son wanted to marry as his second wife has a four-month-old baby from another marriage and there is no way we could have blessed that marriage.

“In fact, he snatched that woman from another man.”

Before hanging himself, Ndou went berserk and destroyed household property.

He walked a few kilometres from his home and is believed to have hanged himself next to his uncle’s field.
