AN Inyathi man lost an eye after a being assaulted by a neighbour following a quarrel over a donkey, the Bulawayo Chronicle has reported
Justine Ncube, 58, of Goodhope in Inyathi, pleaded guilty for the assault when he appeared before an Inyathi designate magistrate.
He was remanded in custody to Monday for sentence pending a final medical report on the victim’s condition.
The court heard that on 20 August, at around 9am, Ncube approached his neighbour Amon Nyoni and accused him of injuring his donkey, which he had found in his field.
Nyoni denied the allegations and tried to apologise, but Ncube who was carrying a stick struck him once on the upper side of the right eye.
Nyoni sustained a swollen eye and made a report to the police, leading to Ncube’s arrest.
He was referred to hospital, where it found that the eye had been damaged.
