CARL Paladino, the millionaire Buffalo businessman who ran for New York governor in 2010 and was state chairman this year for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, told a western New York publication he hopes President Obama dies in 2017 after having sex with a cow and that Michele Obama will “return to being a male” and be sent to Zimbabwe to live with a gorilla.

The statements drew angry rebukes on Twitter and Facebook and from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Paladino stood by the comments, submitted as written responses to the Buffalo weekly publication ArtVoice, which was asking western New Yorkers about their hopes for the new year.

The 70-year-old Republican developer responded to “What would you most like to happen in 2017?” by writing: “Obama catches mad cow disease after being caught having relations with a Herford. He dies before his trial and is buried in a cow pasture next to Valerie Jarret, who died weeks prior, after being convicted of sedition and treason, when a Jihady cell mate mistook her for being a nice person and decapitated her.”

And to the question “What would you like to see go away in 2017?” he responded: “Michelle Obama. I’d like her to return to being a male and let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe where she lives comfortably in a cave with Maxie, the gorilla.”

Reached at his western New York office by phone, Paladino, a member of the Buffalo Board of Education, confirmed to the AP that the answers published in ArtVoice were his.

And in an emailed defending his responses to the survey, Paladino doubled down, saying the president is a “yellow-bellied coward” who “couldn’t care less about the people” and that Mrs. Obama “hated America before her husband won.”

He also called Obama “a lazy ass president.”

Paladino said in the statement that his comments had “nothing to do with race” but instead reflected his opinion of the president’s performance in office.

“Merry Christmas, and tough luck if you don’t like my answer,” he wrote.

A spokeswoman for Trump, who earlier this month met with Paladino at Trump Tower in Manhattan, didn’t immediately respond when asked for the president-elect’s reaction to the comments. The White House also had no immediate response.

But Cuomo and civil rights groups were quick to condemn Paladino’s comments. The governor issued a statement Friday afternoon calling them “racist, ugly and reprehensible.”

“Paladino has a long history of racist and incendiary comments,” said Cuomo, a Democrat who defeated Paladino in New York’s 2010 gubernatorial election. “While most New Yorkers know Mr. Paladino is not to be taken seriously, as his erratic behavior defies any rational analysis and he has no credibility, his words are still jarring. His remarks do not reflect the sentiments or opinions of any real New Yorker, and he has embarrassed the good people of the state with his latest hate-filled rage.”

Frank Mesiah, outgoing president of the NAACP’s Buffalo chapter, urged other politicians to publicly denounce Paladino.

“He says this stuff without anybody countering him,” Mesiah said. “By their silence, to me, they’re condoning that. They’re accepting him and his behavior.”

As recently as August, Paladino falsely claimed President Obama is not Christian, telling the New York Observer that to average Americans, “there is no doubt he is a Muslim.”

In 2010, Paladino was criticized after it was revealed he had forwarded to friends racially charged emails that depicted Obama as a pimp.
