A MAGISTRATE told a rapist who kidnapped and raped a pregnant 17-year-old teenager he “does not deserve to be part of society” as he jailed him for nine years on Monday.

Evil Kudakwashe Chivero, 27, grabbed the victim while she slept at her home in Hatcliffe, Harare, and carried her into a maize field where he beat her and raped her three times.

“Rape by its very nature is a heinous offence which no right thinking person should ever engage in,” Harare magistrate Never Katiyo said before sentencing.

“A fully functional society is expected to have fully functional human beings with functional minds. Such deviants as Chivero do not deserve to be part of that society.”

Prosecuting, Editor Mavuto told how Chivero broke into a room where the seven months pregnant teenager was sleeping just after 3AM on June 27 and made threats to kill her if she did not cooperate.

Chivero carried the victim in his arms into a nearby maize field where he slapped her and forced her to the ground while making fresh threats to kill her if she screamed.

He raped her three times before ordering her to “go home and not tell anyone”, Mavuto told the court.

After the teenager returned home, she proceeded to the toilet but Chivero surprised her by appearing at the window to order her to “get into her room and sleep”.

The teenager waited for sunrise before reporting the attack.

The magistrate imposed a 10-year sentence on Chivero but conditionally suspended a year.
