A DAD who went on a drinking bender with his son is now suing him for OVERSPENDING.

Change Shumba, 56, called the police after sobering up to find his son had blown US$180 on their boozy night out.

Angels Shumba, 24, entered a not guilty plea after being charged with THEFT.

The two men went pub-crawling in Bulawayo after the elder Shumba got paid on November 25.

To curb his own overspending habits, Change Shumba told cops he gave his son US$180 which he was to surrender to his mum when they finally staggered home the next morning.

Angels failed to account for the money, Bulawayo magistrate Victor Mpofu heard on Wednesday.

The elder Shumba is now suing his son, accusing him of spending it all on beer, said prosecutor Trust Maduma.

The son denies the charge and told police during interviews that he had probably been robbed by pickpockets.

The magistrate remanded him in custody to December 14 for the continuation of his trial. His lawyers are appealing for bail.
