PRIME Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T party on Thursday named former ZBC TV reporter Abigail Mvududu as its director of information and publicity.

Mvududu replaces William Bango, who took up the position just over a year ago after a stint as Tsvangirai’s spokesman.

Mvududu will work under the party’s spokesman, Douglas Mwonzora.

In a statement, the MDC-T said Mvududu has been running the department in an acting capacity for the past year.

The party added: “She brings with her a wealth of media experience which the party hopes to benefit from.”

Mvududu, who worked for the ZBC between 1996 and 2004, holds a degree in politics and administration from the University of Zimbabwe and a Masters in Business Administration from the National University of Science and Technology.

The ZBC terminated her in 2004 and a tribunal ruled that she should be paid US$186,000 compensation. Thed ZBC is challenging the award size.
