AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD girl and her sister, 2, were raped by a man who TWICE entered their home through a window and crept on them while their parents slept in the same room, a court heard.
Tavonga Banda, 20, of Mashava township in Zvishavane, appeared before a Harare magistrate this week to deny two counts of aggravated sexual assault.
Prosecuting, James Nyamapfeni told the court how Banda gained entry into his victims’ home at Gaths Mine through a broken window on separate occasions on January 10 and January 17 this year.
Banda was already in the nude when he proceeded to the bedroom where the eight-year-old girl was sleeping.
Nyamapfeni told the court that Banda took cooking oil from the kitchen and smeared it on the girl’s privates, before going on to rape her.
He sneaked out unnoticed.

The court heard that the following morning, the girl’s mum was bathing her when she noticed an inordinate amount of cooking oil on her, but the girl had no recollection of how it got there, nor did she remember a sexual attack.
On January 17, the court heard, Banda returned to the same house. As before, he entered through the window already in the nude and proceeded to one of the bedrooms where the two-year-old girl was sleeping with her parents.
“He once again smeared cooking oil on the little girl's privates and raped her while her parents were fast asleep,” the prosecutor said.
Banda’s luck ran out, the court heard, when the victim’s mother suddenly woke up and discovered her baby was missing from her side.
As she frantically looked around, she caught sight of Banda who was cowering in a corner. She screamed for her husband and Banda fled through the broken window.
The little girl was found unconscious on the edge of the bed.
Police arrived shortly after the incident and arrested Banda.
