A 35-YEAR-OLD man accused of using black magic to be intimate with his neighbours’ wives has been arrested.
Dumisani Mudimba, 35, of Lusulu in Binga, exposed his manhood to women from his neighbourhood and would masturbate in public, say prosecutors.
Officially, Mudimba has been charged with public indecency, but his neighbours accuse him of more sinister sexual crimes.
The unemployed bachelor is accused of using magical powers known as mubobobo, through which it is claimed a man can be intimate with a woman without physical contact.
Often, the victims can feel themselves being violated, and even get to briefly enjoy the encounter, before coming out of the spell and regaining control.
Binga resident magistrate Stephen Ndlovu heard that on several days in January this year, Mudimba stalked and harassed a 22-year-old neighbour when she was engaged in her daily chores.
Prosecuting, Bruce Maphosa told the court that on January 18, Mudimba approached the victim who was sweeping her yard and stood at the gate, facing her.
He opened the zip of his trousers, pulled out his penis and started masturbating, the prosecutor said.
The victim, Maphosa told the court, told investigators that she tried to ignore Mudimba but “immediately experienced some feelings in her body”.
The victim cried out to neighbours and Mudimba fled, it is alleged.
On January 23, Mudimba is alleged to have again turned up as before and repeated the act before fleeing the scene.
Two days later, the victim was washing dishes in her yard when Mudimba stood at the gate and exposed himself.
The prosecution alleges that Mudimba began making “some funny sounds” and the victim simultaneously “felt something in her body”.
“He ran away when the complainant asked him what he was doing, but this time the victim followed him in order to investigate what had been taking place,” Maphosa told the court.
“The accused grabbed the opportunity and repeated the act on her.”
When the victim screamed for help, the prosecutor said, some villagers ran to her aid and apprehended Mudimba before handing him over to the police.
Prosecutors confirm the suspect was assaulted by the villagers who apprehended him, but no charges have been laid.
Mudimba was remanded to February 21 on free bail. No plea has been entered.
