A CHITUNGWIZA man who rubbed his penis against a woman’s backside as they stood squashed in the passage of a packed minibus blamed evil spirits for the attack when he appeared before a Harare magistrate Friday.
Shamed Tinashe Usai, 22, had the public gallery in stitches when he told magistrate Tayengwa Chibanda that he must have been under the influence of some evil spell when he molested his 32-year-old victim.
Usai claimed he only came back to his senses as he was being arrested on charges of indecent assault.
“Zvakangondibatawo (it just happened); it must have been evil spirits that possessed me and forced me to do what I did,” Usai told the court as he pleaded guilty and apologized for his mischief.
Prosecutors said the attack occurred on June 29 as Usai stood behind the complainant in the packed mini bus since all the seats had been taken up.
As the bus approached Prospect along Seke Road the complainant felt wetness on her skirt and turned around to investigate.
She then got the shock of her life when she discovered Usai with his erect member in his hands.
Horrified, the woman screamed and shouted to the other passengers alerting them to what was going on.
A police man who happened to be on the same bus arrested Usai after establishing that the wetness was his semen.
Magistrate Chibanda convicted Usai on his own guilty plea and sent him to the community services office for vetting.
