A ZIMBABWEAN man knifed to death in Slough, England, on August 22 was caught up in a house party scuffle, according to witnesses.
Two brave Slough residents have relived their harrowing ordeal of trying to save dying Tarirai Ransome Munjanja, 23, after he was stabbed in the stomach.
Houston Renoi and Lennox Carty desperately tried to stem the bleeding using a kitchen towel after Munjanja was fatally attacked at a house on Bradley Road, Slough.
Renoi, who lives at the property, said he was enjoying a drink with Munjanja and several guests.
The victim, affectionately known as 'Terry', had stepped out into the garden after an argument and scuffle.
Renoi, 24, said: "Terry was the closest thing I had to a brother and I can't believe that this coward has done this. He was attacked in cold blood while he had his back turned all because of a stupid argument. I could not even look into his mother's eyes knowing that her son had been taken from her."
Neighbour Lennox Carty added: "I heard screaming and four thuds against the side of my house. I opened the back door and saw a young man bending forward shouting for help. The lad was screaming in pain and was bleeding heavily. I gave a kitchen towel to his friend and told him to apply pressure to the wound."
Carty called the ambulance at 10.26pm while Renoi applied pressure to the wound. Paramedics arrived 10 minutes later with police officers after deeming it unsafe to enter the scene alone.
Munjanja was rushed to Wexham Park Hospital but died from injuries at 11.46pm. A post mortem carried out on Sunday, August 23, revealed the cause of death as haemorrhage due to a stab wound to the stomach.
Daniel Tulloch, 36, of Bradley Road, has been arrested and charged with murder.
He was denied bail and will appear before Reading Crown Court on September 14.
Meanwhile young people around Slough have rallied together to celebrate Munjanja’s life.
Friends have organised a fundraising night in his memory and to raise awareness of knife crime.
The event will be held at the Eco Bar in the High Street on Friday night, Sept. 11. Entrance is £3 and all money raised will be donated to Munjanja's family, who are planning to fly his body back to Zimbabwe.
Close friend Tendai Mucheri, 22, told the Slough and Windsor Observer: "Terry was a really popular person and so many people have said that they want to pay their respects. He always said that he would want people to have a party for him if he died early, and we are going to honour that. Flying the body back to Zimbabwe is going to be very expensive and we are hoping to raise as much money as we can to give to the family."
Al Kudakwashe Pratt, 22, added: "I have kown Terry's family for ten years and his mother has always opened her heart and home to all of us and we feel that we would like to express our love back to her by helping her out during this difficult time. Knife crime destroys families and we want to get that message across to as many people as possible."
Eco Bar manager Vijay Kapur said: "When his friends approached us about the evening we were more than happy to help. We are a part of the community and this is the perfect way to help a grieving family. We will also be making a contribution to the event once all the money has been counted."
