A SECURITY guard accused of having sex with a dog has walked after a court dismissed the allegations citing lack of evidence.

Fanuel Tiki, 49, employed by the Fort Group Security Company in Bulawayo, was all smiles as the magistrate declared his innocence.

“The State should have proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the animal in question had been indeed abused,” said Bulawayo provincial magistrate Charity Maphosa.

Tiki was arrested after a fellow employee reported him to police claiming he had caught him on company premises at 2pm having sex with the dog.

But Tiki had vehemently denied the accusations, claiming the complainant, Prince Moyo had a longstanding beef with him.

And in the absence of a smoking gun, the magistrate gave him the benefit of the doubt.

“Without such proof (of the alleged bestiality), it is probable that what the accused is alleging (that Moyo hates him), is substantially true,” said Maphosa.

Seeking to prove his “bad blood” defense, Tiki claimed he had previously censured the informant for reporting late for duty, leading to an argument.

The magistrate concluded that she could not send him to jail as the prosecution had failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

She also expressed reservations about testimonies given by two state witnesses saying it was clear they had some work-related issues with the accused.
