CLEMENS Westerhof has hit back in the public spat with his ex-wife, Tendayi, after she claimed in her book that he had infected her with HIV, slept with her secretary and constantly subjected her to physical abuse.

The former Zimbabwe national football team coach's new wife, Lillian, contacted the entertainment website Itsbho.com, with Westerhof’s backing, to fire a broadside at Tendayi.

Lillian, nee Ndlovu, variously described Tendayi as a gold digger and accused her of besmirching Westerhof’s reputation with slanderous comments in media interviews and her book Unlucky In Love.

“She never loved him,” Lillian wrote in the first of FIVE e-mails sent to the website which published excerpts of Tendayi’s book. “All she wanted was money and publicity. She planned the whole marriage as a retirement plan, and then got Clemens deported to South Africa by claiming he was beating her. People know the truth that she is a bad liar.”

The harsh exchanges follow Tendayi’s much publicised claims that she had contracted HIV, the deadly virus that causes Aids. She heaps the blame on Westerhof in her book Unlucky In Love.

Before Lillian’s e-mails were sent out, Westerhof called Itsbho.com and told them: “What Lillian has written is what I think. Publish it. It’s my side of the story. I’m sick and tired of this woman (Tendayi)!”

Westerhof intends to get the book banned and has engaged lawyers in Harare to block its circulation.

Lillian said: “Tendayi portrays herself as a victim. All she wants is donor money and free publicity. She must look for a job like any other proud Zimbabwean and make her own money.”

Lillian said Tendayi’s continued use of Westerhof’s surname was a calculated attempt to continue to milk the Westerhof brand while playing victim. She also rubbished Tendayi’s claims that Westerhof was sleeping with her secretary.

“The truth will come soon, she thinks she has won,” railed Lillian in another of her e-mails. “Tendayi has become desperate for donor money because Clemens is gone with his money and she has nothing left but a big mouth.”

“Tendayi acts like she is a virgin, as if she's perfect. Why does she put all the blame on Clemens when she has a horror sex life of her own before Clemens, and four children from different fathers to prove it? Someone must put a stop to this rubbish. Her book has more holes than a gold mine.”

Tendayi could not be reached for comment last night.
