A ZIMBABWEAN man was expected to appear before a South African magistrate late Monday charged with the murder of a Limpopo couple last week.

Clint Hayward and his wife, Michele, owners of the Mountain View hotel, were gunned down in their bed in their house next to the hotel on Tuesday last week.

Their 12-year-old daughter, Tamaryn, found the bodies the following morning.

The man, a former employee of the couple, was arrested last Saturday. Two other Zimbabweans are wanted for questioning over the double murder.

The killings have added to growing calls by the Limpopo community on government to withdraw South African troops from other African countries and redeploy the soldiers along the Zimbabwean border to prevent the influx of illegal immigrants from that country.

The community also asked that the defence force contingent in Limpopo be strengthened to patrol the border with Zimbabwe to prevent people from crossing the border illegally and committing crimes in nearby towns such as Makhado.

Meanwhile, Limpopo Premier Sello Moloto has expressed his shock and horror at the murder of the Haywards and said the "barbaric and inhumane action came from people who have no vested interest in the province or the country".

Moloto ordered the police not to rest until the murderers were found.

He expressed his condolences with the Haywards' family and asked that the community rally and help the police in their investigation.

Police Captain Ailwei Moshavhanamadi said the man was arrested at a house near Makhado at the weekend.

Two guns and cellphones, which were stolen from the Haywards, were found in the suspect's possession.

Mushavhanamadi said several other items, which were stolen in other burglaries and robberies, were also found in the suspect's possession.

Police are still searching for two other Zimbabweans.
