Jail for woman hotel boss who sexually abused female employee By Lindie
Whiz Susan Doris Chivore, 53, the owner of a chain of lodges in Masvingo Province, was told by a magistrate that her crime “deserved a stiff sentence”. The 21-year-old victim was once employed as a secretary at Jazz Place Lodge, one of Chirove’s lodges. Magistrate Ester Muremba heard how married Chirove forced herself on her young victim between March 2006 and June 2007 after threatening her with some nocturnal creature. Prosecutor Elson Chabarika said Chirove fondled her victim’s breasts, licked and inserted her fingers as well as a vibrator into her reproductive organs without her consent. The abuse began sometime in March 2006 when Chirove misled the girl into believing that there was a party at her luxury home in the plush Rhodene suburb of Masvingo. On arrival at the house, the girl told detectives she noticed there was no-one else in the house and asked Chirove where the guests were. Chirove told her she wanted her help in preparing for the party before the guests arrived. Chirove then led the girl into her bedroom, locking the door as soon as her victim had entered, Chabarika told the court. She then dipped her hands into a traditional clay pot besides her bed and instructed the girl to do the same. Chirove is said to have ordered the girl to open a calabash, where there was a strange creature, about 45cm tall, "hairy like a baboon, and looked like a human being". Chirove ordered the girl not to tell anyone about the incident, or the creature would follow her home. She directed her
victim to undress and lie on the bed on her back. She fondled the
girl’s breasts, and licked her private parts, the prosecutor said. The court heard that after abusing the girl, Chirove offered her money, perfume, sweets, chocolates and pornographic videos to watch at home. She was also given Chirove’s photographs. The photographs, empty perfume containers and pornographic videos were used as evidence in court. The girl reported the case to the police in February 2008, leading to the hotelier’s arrest. Chirove is a member
of the Hotel Association of Zimbabwe and is married to a top United
Nations official based in South Africa. |
