Botswana raids net 102 illegal Zimbabwe immigrants By
Staff Reporter Masunga Police Station commander, Superintendent Hendrick Mmipi, told Botswana's official news agency BOPA that the exercise was carried out mainly to weed out foreigners who came into the country illegally. Mmipi said ALL illegal immigrants were found to be coming from neighbouring Zimbabwe and were fined between P100 and P1 000 depending on the kind of crime they committed. He said the exercise was also part of eliminating crime in the North East District, which is presently experiencing the highest crime rate in the country. Mmipi said it came
out very clearly during the clean-up operation that most criminal offences
committed recently around the district involved mostly illegal immigrants.
Police criminal records also confirmed this. |
