ZIMBABWEAN tennis ace Cara Black and her American doubles partner Liezel Huber on Saturday won the WTA Tour International Women’s Open in a nerve-tingling final against Number 2 Seeds and defending champions, Kveta Pescke (Czech Republic) and Australian Rennae Stubbs.

Black and Huber were stretched to the limit in Eastbourne, England, and had to fight back from a 6-2 first set drubbing to take the second 6-0 before a dramatic 10-8 tie-break victory in which they had to rally back from 5-2 down.

Black and Huber pocketed US$30 000 each as they cemented their place as the best doubles pair in women’s tennis in the world.

The world beaters cruised past Edina Gallovits and Monica Niculescu 6-2; 6-0 in the first round before a less convincing 7-5; 7-5 quarter final win over the Russian pair of Alisa Kleybanova and Galina Voskoboeva.

Belarusian Olga Govortsova and her American partner Jill Craybas offered little resistance in the semi-final and were crushed 6-1; 6-4.

The win was Black and Huber's second inside six days after they lifted the DFS Classic Doubles title in Birmingham on Jubne 15 against Severine Bremond of France and Virginia Ruano Pascual of Spain.

Next up is Wimbledon.
