THE first transfer window of the 2008 Zimbabwe soccer season will now close on February 29 instead of the end of January, ZIFA has confirmed.

ZIFA sent out a circular to FIFA, CAF, premiership and lower division clubs notifying them of the extension.

ZIFA opened the transfer window on December 1, but told the media, through vice chairman Tendai Madzorera late in December that the window will be opened from January 1-31 only.

The circular, signed by ZIFA CEO Henrietta Rushwaya, is dated November 23 but was only given to clubs last week.

The window has been generally quiet with only Highlanders and Dynamos making serious moves because of their participation in the Confederations Cup and the Champions League respectively.

Highlanders begin their campaign on February 17 against Ferroviario de Nampula of Mozambique in the first leg of the Confederations Cup at home, while Dynamos will be away to Royal Leopards of Swaziland in the Champions League the same weekend with the return legs a fortnight later.

Highlanders have added five new players for their 2008 campaign -- Herbert Dick, Jacob Muzokomba from Lancashire Steel, Kabwe Protasha from Harare United, Stephen Alumenda from Mwana Africa and Irvine Tinarwo from Monomotapa.

At the same time, Thabani Moyo is reportedly seeking a move to Poland, Sautso Phiri, Farai Mujokoro left by mutual consent and joined BMC in Botswana, while
bustling loan striker Admire Dzukamanja moved to Dynamos.

They are also chasing the Chapungu pair of goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda and striker Cuthberth Malajila, who won the Golden Boot last season and the Hwange pair of midfielder Carrington Gomba and Gilbert Zulu.

Dynamos have swooped on the Lancashire Steel pair of Farayi Vimisayi and Brighton Tuwaya, Dzukamanja from Douglas Warriors and have enticed Gomba to their training camp, while there are unconfirmed reports of Leonard Tsipa also joining them.

They have off-loaded Bheki Ncube, Ramson Zhuwawo and Tendayi Gwata -- deemed excess baggage to their 2008 requirements.
