2007 Premier Soccer League Fixtures

By Nkanyiso Moyo

IT’S a season opener made in the stars!

League champions Dynamos will waste no time in renewing their rivalry with CAPS United when the new Premier Soccer League season gets underway on March 9.

The two Harare rivals were drawn against each other in the opening fixture of the 2008 PSL season, according to a fixtures list released by the league.

Highlanders, the 2006 champions, are also locked for a derby match when they kick off with Njube Sundowns at Barbourfields Stadium.

Three newly promoted sides -- Gunners, Underhill and Kiglon -- were not so lucky in their opening fixtures.

Gunners will be at home to Motor Action, while Kiglon will entertain Underhill at a venue yet to be disclosed.

Masvingo, who finished third last season, take on Lengthens at Mucheke while Eastern Lions, who survived relegation by a whisker, face CAPS FC in Harare.

Lancashire Steel and Chapungu clash in the Midlands derby.

In the other match, Monomotapa will take on Shooting Stars.

The league is still to debate the Underhill stadium crisis as they do not have a venue that meets PSL, ZIFA and CAF standards.

In their race for promotion from the Southern Region Division One league, Underhill used Beitbridge Prison stadium in the southern border town as Dulibadzimu was also deemed to
be unsuitable.

The only other alternative available will be Pelandaba Stadium in Gwanda, which they would share with Sundowns who play on Saturdays.

Sundowns have indicated they could move back to Bulawayo's White City Stadium, clearing the way for Underhill to use Pelandaba.
