2008 Premier Soccer League Fixtures

By Mutongi Gava

PREMIER Soccer League bosses have postponed the kick off of the 2008 season set for this weekend because league sponsors, the Commercial Bank of Zimbabwe, are awaiting the delivery of a set of kits for all league teams.

The first round of fixtures, including the blood and thunder clash between champions Dynamos and their Harare rivals CAPS United, will now be played next week.

CBZ are importing pre-branded kits for all league teams. The sponsors also want the Harare derby to be played at Rufaro Stadium after ZIFA indicated the stadium, which was being renovated, will be ready for use by next week.

A PSL official said: "We want to wait for the re-opening of Rufaro Stadium which has been closed due to renovations. The Zimbabwe Footbal Association (Zifa) officials said the stadium will be open to clubs in a week's time.

"There is also the issue of our sponsors who want to see a grand opening to the season. They told us that they were importing kits for all teams in the Premiership. The regalia is expected in the country before the season kicks off next week.”

PSL fixtures secretary Godfrey Japajapa confirmed they had postponed this weekend's matches.
