DYNAMOS sent a loud message to the rest of the African continent that they are back to their best with a thumping first round Champions League victory over visiting Mozambican champions Costa do Sol on Sunday.

David Mandigora has invoked the great Dynamos run of 1998 which saw them reach the Champions League final to inspire a resurgent team finding its feet again after a decade of under-achievement.

And in a Dynamos team not lacking of heroes in a glorious last 12 months, Edward Sadomba stole the limelight with a brutal finishing display capped with a fine hat-trick at Gwanzura Stadium.

The 2007 Soccer Star of the Year finalist struck on 30 minutes, connecting a pass from David Shoko. He turned in a second seven minutes later and all but secured Dynamos a ticket to the second round with his third on 82 minutes.

Hours after this most emphatic victory, Dynamos fans were still toasting the win in central Harare.

Dynamos will carry their commanding lead to Maputo in a fortnight.

Sadomba, who scored the equaliser in Dynamos' 1-1 draw with CAPS United in the premiership season opener last week, attributed his rich vein of form to the team spirit oozing out of Mandigora’s dressing room.

He said: "I'm delighted to score three goals for my club in such a big competition. But then it would be unfair not to mention my team mates. They played a very big role today. You can only score if you are supplied with the balls. There is high morale in our dressing room at the moment."

Costa do Sol coach Chissano refused to be subdued and promised revenge in Mozambique.

"We are obviously disappointed with the result but we will revenge in Mozambique. There is nothing stopping us from bettering the result at home. I thought Sadomba was too good for our team today," he said.

Dembare advanced into the first round after beating Royal Leopards of Swaziland 3-0 on goal aggregate. They edged the Swazi champions 1-0 in Maseru before finishing off the Leopards 2-0 in Harare.
