HIGHLANDERS' return to domestic football turned into an anti-climax on Wednesday as they played out a 0-0 draw against Lengthens at Gwanzura Stadium.

The result propelled the former champions into third place with four points from two matches after their impressive 4-0 demolition of Njube Sundowns in the opening match of the season.

For "The Happy People" as Lengthens are known to their fans, it was a dream result having complained of inactivity in the past three weeks.

Moses Chunga told of his delight after they restricted Highlanders.

"We came into this match as underdogs and we are satisfied that we managed to hold Highlanders who have been so active in the past two months," Chunga said.

"It is always difficult to gel a team after weeks of inactivity. So far so good for us," said the Dynamos and Zimbabwe legend.

Lengthens are up there with the big boys on fifth place after beating Masvingo United 2-1 in their first match of the season at Mucheke Stadium.

Bosso themselves came into this match after a 2-1 goal aggregate win over Green Buffaloes of Zambia in the CAF Confederations Cup second round.

They came with their tails up but looked jaded in the match. They were cautious in their approach, and they created few scoring opportunities.

In the end, it was one of those midweek fixtures when players look like donkeys that have been forced to go to the river. And they will not drink!

Bosso's man of the moment Cuthbert Malajila came on into the match as a substitute for Abraham Mubaiwa but was not up to his usual potency.

Malajila was the hero for the Bulawayo giants when he scored in both legs of the CAF Confederations Cup against Green Buffaloes to earn Bosso the passage in the African competition.
