MIDWAY through the season, Njube Sundowns striker Evans Chikwaikwai and Monomotapa are the real winners in the CBZ Premiership after unexpected performances.

Chikwaikwai has scored 14 times in 15 matches and is one goal off the 2007 Golden Boot winner Cuthberth Malajila’s total haul. Malajila, on loan to Highlanders from Chapungu, has hit the back of the net 12 times.

For long, the Zimbabwean football scenario has been dominated by Highlanders, Dynamos and CAPS United, but the normal order has been disturbed with only the Bulawayo giants making the top three after 15 matches.

Monomotapa, under former national team defender, Norman Mapeza, have surpassed even their own expectations, dropping just two points in 11 consecutive games, which has seen them move top with 31 points-three more than second-placed Sundowns.
