| Bantu Rovers to swoop for Tarumbwa
Posted
to the web: 17/03/2009 00:32:45 Rovers, whose president is former Highlanders coach Methembe Ndlovu, have already rubbed their rivals the wrong way after snatching goalkeeper Washington Arubi last month. Arubi is now the Rovers captain. Having played only six matches since his arrival in January 2008, Tarumbwa was contracted to the Belgian club until June, but it was cancelled by mutual consent last Friday. Ndlovu was instrumental in taking the player to Belgium, where he had also taken Warriors internationals Honour Gombami and Vusa Nyoni, who play almost every week. Nyoni and Gombami’s contracts run up to 2011. Rovers spokesman Londani Moyo admitted interest in the striker, who is back in Bulawayo. “He is a free agent and we could do with his services,” he said. Tarumbwa was introduced into top-flight football by Madinda Ndlovu in 2004 and the same man is back as Highlanders technical manager. How about a reunion? “I have not decided on anything as yet, perhaps by the end of the week,” Tarumbwa said. Aged only 23, Tarumbwa has a lot to offer and his next move could be the most important of his career. Rovers will kick-start their maiden season in the premiership against Njube Sundowns at Pelandaba Stadium on Saturday. 2009 SEASON OPENING MATCHES: March 21-22 fixtures Black Rhinos v Lengthens CAPS United v Hwange Highlanders v Gunners Kiglon v Shooting Stars Monomotapa v Highway Motor Action v Eagles Njube Sundowns v Bantu Rovers Underhill v Dynamos |
