Armed robber Karimanzira dies in jail By Staff
Reporter Karimanzira died on Tuesday morning, closing the chapter of one of Zimbabwe's most famous robbers. Karimanzira was recently revealed to be HIV positive, and his health was failing. A family spokesman told New Zimbabwe.com: "He died at the Chikurubi Maximum Prison hospital in the early hours of Tuesday." Karimanzira -- who
had gained legendary status for his high-profile criminal activities
and He was serving a six year-jail term for armed robbery and carjacking. He had at least another 40 pending cases ranging from armed robbery, car jacking to fire arms charges.. The offences Karimanzira was jailed for were committed during the height of his reign of terror between 2000 and 2001. They include robbing two banks, pointing a firearm at a police officer, stealing cars and using the vehicles to travel to Swaziland, Mozambique and Zambia on fake documents. Perhaps Karimanzira's
notoriety is only rivaled by the exploits of Death Row jail breakers
Stephen Chidhumo and Edmund Masendeke -- both
