Peeping Toms lead police to drugs haul

By Staff Reporter

TEENAGE peeping toms hoping to spy on a couple locked in a heated embrace have instead led police in Indonesia to arrest a Zimbabwean with a haul of heroin, a report said on Monday.

On Saturday the group of teenagers peeped into a rented house in the Indonesian capital, where Zimbabwean national Frederik Lutta, 32, and his Indonesian girlfriend Mulyani were staying, Media Indonesia said.

But instead of finding them in bed, they spotted them busily measuring out a white powder on scales and reported them to local officials, the daily reported.

Police swooped on the pair and allegedly found 1,27kg of heroin with an estimated street value of about $140 000 (about R865 000) at their house, the report added.

The pair, if found guilty of trafficking the drug, could face the firing squad in Indonesia, where there are tough laws targeting illegal drug use and distribution. - Sapa-AFP
