ZIMBABWEAN nurse, Makosi Musambasi suffered a double whammy Wednesday night when the top-selling Sun newspaper
accused her of of being an actress, imploring its readers to snub her.

Earlier, Big Brother had offered half the £100 000 prize money to another contestant, Eugene. If Eugene had rejected the money, the big prize would have been doubled to £200 000.

In an editorial for Thursday, the Sun said "Makosi's opponents have every reason to be furious" after details emerged she was an actress with a London agency and had gone into Big Brother with the help of a "slick, professional audition video".

"Reality TV is supposed to be about ORDINARY people impressing the producers at auditions to win their chance of fame," the Sun said in an editorial comment.

"Makosi has drawn suspicion to herself by being less than open with her fellow contestants. Viewers who pay to vote for their favourites have a right to feel aggrieved if Makosi has been given secret help by Big Brother himself," the Sun said.

The latest revelations will shatter Makosi's dream of winning the Channel 4 programme. Four contestants remain after the gay housemate, Craig, was voted out on Wednesday night.

Makosi's stay in the Big Brother house has been dogged by controvercy, and it was New Zimbabwe.com editor Mduduzi Mathuthu who first noted that a well-oiled PR machine was working overtime to boost Makosi's chances of winning the big prize.

Writing in his Editor's Memo on 19 July, Mathuthu warned it could all end in tears for Makosi.

He wrote: "Now her sister, Veronica, who is enjoying her 15 minutes of fame, has unhelpfully intervened to claim Makosi went into Big Brother in order to get money to pay for her mum's cancer operation.

"But wait a minute, just this past week Makosi's dad, Rich, told us the real motive for going on Big Brother -- that his daughter always wanted to be famous. So why is Veronica wheeling out this stuff about her mum's cancer operation when we all know Makosi is hunting fame?"

It could be too late for answers.
