A CHINHOYI school headmaster and his 21 year-old daughter this week appeared in court facing five charges of incest after admitting to having a sexual relationship for over five years, the court heard.

The two will be sentenced on Friday this week.

According to police spokesperson Inspector Andrew Phiri, the headmaster and his daughter have pleaded guilty to the charges.

The court heard that the headmaster fell “head-over-heels” for his daughter after separating with his wife.

The daughter was only 16 at the time when the two became lovebirds, defying all cultural and social norms, the court heard.

The daughter, who is now 21 and a trainee nursing student at Chinhoyi provincial hospital, admitted to the affair.

The headmaster’s second wife discovered the rare love affair after she saw letters written by the two trading in love melodies.

She then alerted relatives who filed a report to the police resulting in the arrest of the two.

Phiri said in coming up with the five counts of incest against the two, police had estimated that the duo had had sexual relationships probably once in every year, over a period of five years.
