Man gets community service for stripping By Staff
Reporter Passing sentence, Harare magistrate Priscilla Chigumba initially sentenced Johannes Sapabwe, 29, to 9 months in prison and suspended three months for five years on condition he does not commit a similar offence. He also suspended the remaining six months on condition that Sapabwe serves the community service. On July 17 2003, Sapabwe visited the complainant under the pretext that he wanted to watch the main news on ZTV. After the news, he left the complainant’s home for about 40 minutes, before returning half-naked. Meanwhile, a 55-year-old woman from Chipinge died after drinking kachasu/tototo on Tuesday, reports from Zimbabwe said. Kachasu/tototo is an illicit brew made from traditional ingredients to form a strong spirit. Manicaland provincial police spokesman Inspector Joshua Tigere said the dead woman left Arda Section 2 compound around 6am for Chipangayi National Park where she wanted to fetch some firewood. On her way back from the national park, around 10am, she stopped at Mikiri compound for a beer drink. She then started drinking kachasu with her colleagues until they got drunk. She then left Mikiri and headed home only to be found dead about two kilometres away from their drinking place around 2pm by a passer-by from the same village. "We do not
suspect that the deceased was poisoned but that she had an excessive
intake of the dangerous brew," Tigere told the Herald newspaper.
"A post-mortem is going to be conducted soon to confirm our line
of thinking." |
