A PERVERTED male athlete who won SEVEN gold medals while competing as a female was beginning a four year prison sentence on Thursday.

Serial conman, Samukeliso Sithole, as "she" was known to fellow runners, was convicted of crimen injuria by a Zimbabwe court after four female athletes complained they had allowed Sithole into their houses while they were in the nude.

They had also stripped naked in front of him while in camp, preparing to represent the country in athletics competitions.

They complained that Sithole's lies had "impaired their dignity."

Sithole has claimed that he grew a penis in place of his vagina after a witch doctor cast a spell on him. He further claimed the witch doctor was demanding huge sums of money to reverse the condition.

Sithole who scooped a silver medal with the Zimbabwe Zone Six team in Mozambique last year insisted that he had both male and female organs, "although the male organ has outgrown the other".

“Sometime ago my male organ disappeared. The problem should have been fixed when I was young, but we owe a certain traditional healer $1,5 million which has since ballooned to $5 million," he claimed in the only interview he gave before the trial.

"I was supposed to pay the amount with my salary in my first three months of working, according to the agreement, but I did not do that. The male organ has grown and this is some form of punishment by the traditional healer to induce me to pay the outstanding amount. I do not have that kind of money.

"The male organ sprouted again recently. It is just decorative because it is not functional. Also, the healer said I should not sell any of my beasts."

However, two doctors who examined Sithole both concurred that he was male. Four other witnesses also confirmed Sithole was male, and was probably aged 29, not 18 as stated on his birth certificate.

After years of living a fantasy, Sithole's luck ran out early this year when "her" athletics team was on its way to Bulawayo from the Midlands city of Kwekwe. While passing through Kwekwe Railway Station, a security guard who claimed to know him from Silobela as Mduduzi Ngwenya, alerted the other athletes, sparking an outcry from the athletes.

Sithole was arrested a few days later.

A journalist who interviewed Sithole described him as "a lanky figure, with a clean-shaven chin, hairy legs and a hoarse voice."

"The breasts are not well defined. At times he has male mannerisms and at times combines both male and female mannerisms," said Fanuel Viriri. "I noticed that he had no breasts as he led us to his house. After a while he excused himself and came back dressed up this time with a stuffing, which looked like breasts."
