POLICE in Chivhu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 57-year-old woman whose body was found with her facial skin sloughed off and one eye plucked out, in a suspected ritual killing.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Darlington Mathuthu confirmed the discovery of Elizabeth Gadzikwa’s body at her home and said the police were treating the case as suspected murder. No arrests have yet been made.

“This is a very bizarre case. We are treating it as suspected murder as we await the results of the post mortem," said Mathuthu.

"Investigations are going to be launched to find out the circumstances leading to the death.

“A report was made to Sadza Police Station in Chivhu who picked the body and took it to Chivhu District Hospital for a post mortem,” he added.
