Headmaster jailed for 5 years over incest affair

A CHINHOYI headmaster who recently pleaded guilty to five charges of incest following a five-year running affair with his daughter soon after separating with his wife was yesterday slapped with an effective five-year jail term.

Washington Kuipa (38), whose relationship with Alice (21) his daughter budded in year 2000 had six months suspended on condition that he restrains himself from such uncultured behaviour.

Alice, a student nurse at Chinhoyi provincial hospital, was spared prison but will serve a community service term.

Kuipa’s fate came on the heels of yet another similar one that befell Statement Gamara of Harare who last week was whipped with an effective 32 months in custody after siring two siblings with his daughter, Monica.

Monica is serving 420 hours of community service after the court placed more blame on the father saying he had forced his daughter into adulthood when she was still a minor.

The headmaster fell head over heels for his daughter when Alice was only 16 years old.

The two lovebirds admitted to the affair when they were brought in court.
His second wife - a stepmother to Alice - unearthed Kuipa’s affair with his daughter after she bumped into love letters exchanged by the two.

Shell-shocked, the stepmother informed relatives about the odd affair, who in turn reported the matter to the police, resulting in the arrest.

In coming up with the five counts of incest levelled against the pair, the police assumed that the duo might have had sexual relations once in every year.
The Chinhoyi odd pair, unlike the Harare couple, did not sire any child from their incestuous relationship.
