Sports Reporter Coventry was Friday night crowned Zimbabwe’s 2005 Sportsperson of the Year after her five star performance at the World Swimming Championships which were hosted by Canada. She won two gold and two silver medals adding to her five medals attained the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004. But the Athens performance is not what earned her second consecutive crown as best sportsperson. It was her exploits in Canada in which made her arguably Zimbabwe’s most successful athlete since independence. Rising tennis ace Fadzai Mawisire was voted the best junior woman sportsperson while swimmer Timothy won the male’s category. Sprinter Young Talkmore Nyongani was named Sportsman of the Year while Elliot Mujaji as expected clinched the award for the best athlete with disability. Soccer player Enia
