SHACKY Tauro quit last Saturday as Zimbabwe women's football team coach saying he couldn't spend three to four weeks away with the team in South Africa.

Nothing wrong there. In fact if we had more people resigning and not waiting to be pushed, Zimbabwe would be a better place to live!

My problem with Shacky Tauro, and I know I speak for many, is that he is being allowed to get away with murder, literally!

Only last week, a Mighty Warriors player came forward to disclose that she had a year-long affair with Tauro. Not only that. She also revealed she had HIV and accused Tauro of infecting her with the deadly virus which causes Aids.

And what was Tauro's response to these very serious accusations? "I have nothing to do with her HIV status," blurted the coach. "I never had an affair with her. She is mad."

Forgive me but I don't believe Tauro a bit. If indeed it is true that he never slept with Yesmore Mutero, I expected him to issue a writ against her or sue her for defamation after her very public pronouncements.

The burden of proof is not on Mutero, but on Tauro whose resignation appears very suspicious under the circumstances. Tauro should be instigating a full and independent enquiry into Mutero's accusations, otherwise he will continue to be seen as the man who wrecked a young player's career before doing a runner!

To me, and many football fans out there, Tauro is a man on the run and justice should be taken to his doorstep.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) owes every football fan up and down the country an explanation as to why Tauro has been allowed to get away with murder. Zifa must set up an enquiry to exhaustively investigate this matter, and if it is proven that Tauro did have an affair with Mutero, he should be shopped to the police.

As far as the football fans are concerned, Tauro's resignation is an admission of guilt. And if he indeed dated Mutero for a year, that was gross unprofessionalism on his part and his resignation could not have come any sooner.

Mutero deserves justice, and football fans deserve an answer to their questions - and they can only be answered by a full and independent enquiry!
