| Makho wins Miss Zimbabwe USA 2006
By
Showbiz Reporter Makho got the thumbs up from judges at the ZimExpo USA held in Chicago recently. She beat a bevy of 15 contestants from all over the USA. Winning the Miss ZimUSA contest earns Makho a ticket to compete in the Miss Zimbabwe finals later this year. She will also take part in the Miss Africa International held in August in the USA. In an exclusive interview with New Zimbabwe.com, Makho said: "I would like to thank God for blessing me in more ways than I can count. "My family was great. I could not have made it this far without them. "The girls that were involved in the pageant were all beautiful and it was a pleasure to compete with them. "My ZimUSA experience was absolutely exhilarating. It is truly an honour to be crowned Miss ZimUSA 2006. This experience has taught me that with hard work, motivation and the love of God anything is possible. I am walking testament that with the faith of a mustard seed you can move mountains." The UK version of the ZimExpo is held on 26 and 27 August 2006. A business exhibition will be held on the first day, culminating in the Miss Zimbabwe UK contest on August 27. Makho said: "In my reign as Miss ZimUSA 2006, I look forward to traveling to Zimbabwe and launching a non-for profit foundation. The goal of this charity will be to assist children that are orphaned and are in dire need of assistance. "I know that the key to our future is our children and I am determined to play a role in shaping how Zimbabwe’s future society will be." Makho also revealed a personal heartache that has changed her approach to life. She was devastated when her cousin, Anele Mabena, died on June 1 this year aged 19 from Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. She revealed: "Her strength and courage to withstand life challenges with a positive outlook was simply inspiring to me. "The biggest
lesson I learned from this tragedy is that life is fragile, short and
precious. Make the most of your time here. I encourage everyone to please
make a positive contribution to society in anyway that they can." |
