FAITH Matambanashe, an emotional 22-year-old Zimbabwean beauty wiped off tears after being crowned Miss Zimbabwe UK in London Saturday night.

Trish Mushangwe, a 17-year-old student, was first princess while Sindiso Muhlwa was crowned second princess at the pageant attended by the glitterati of Zimbabwean celebrity.

The cream of of Zimbabwean TV and radio presenting Tich Mataz and Tich Barney Mpariwa were the hosts, while Big Brother star Makosi Musambasi, Miss Global International winner, Ropafadzai Garuse and Portsmouth forward Benjani Mwaruwari sat in the audience.

Matambanashe paid tribute to her mum after her win.

She said: "It was my mum's idea to enter the competition, and I am delighted to have won. I now look forward to going to Zimbabwe and taking part in the Miss Zimbabwe contest.

"My first reaction was to cry, I do that when I am overwhelmed with emotions."

The Miss Zimbabwe UK pageant, set to be televised on OBE TV, was held on the sidelines of the annual ZimExpo business exhibition which opened Saturday morning with several Zimbabwean companies showcasing their products.

Primrose Mutsigiri, the outgoing Miss Zimbabwe UK who was recently crowned Miss Africa (UK), was on hand to crown the new queen.

Matambanashe beat a field of 21 contestants for the crown. The contestants were judged on swim wear, evening wear and a question and answer session with the judges.
