| Zimbabwe celebs to grace Miss Zimbabwe (UK)
By Showbiz Reporter Mataz arrived in the UK Thursday and will be the MC at the beauty pageant which will feature 15 of Zimbabwe's finest girls from the UK and a special performance by dancehall queens FYA (listen to their single). The programme kicks off with a business exhibition for Zimbabwean companies to showcase their products and services on Saturday morning. Zimbabwe's former Industry Minister Nkosana Moyo is expected to officiate. Later in the evening, Zimbabweans will file in for the main attraction -- Miss Zimbabwe (UK). Former TV presenter Tichafara Mupariwa who is one of the organisers told New Zimbabwe.com Thursday night: "This will be an event to celebrate our culture -- an exhibition about who we are and what we stand for. If you are not there, you can't be anywhere."
On Thursday, Mataz was reunited with the microphone after a long absence from Zimbabwe's airwaves since his Coca Cola On the Beat TV show was scrapped under reforms announced by information minister Jonathan Moyo for 75 percent local content on radio and TV. Temporarily taking
the reins from Ezra Tshisa Sibanda on Afro
Sounds FM, Mataz was flooded with calls from disbelieving listeners.
"As soon as I came into my house and heard you, I immediately said
'I know this voice'," one listener told Mataz. |
