FINDINGS of a probe team set up to investigate the state of affairs in Zanu PF companies will not be made public, but will remain an internal party issue, the leader of the committee undertaking the investigations David Karimanzira has said.

Karimanzira refused to shed light on how far their investigations had gone or when they would be concluded, what will be done to correct any anomalies and why they are holding on to information they discovered during the course of work.

“The findings will not be made public, but we will take them to the party which appointed us. Hazvisi zve public. Tiregerereiwo , panyaya iyoyo. Ndatopedza nemi (The findi_ngs are not for the public, so bear with us , on that matter, ” Karimanzira told the Daily Mirror.

The Politburo, which is the highest decision-making organ of the ruling party, set up a team that was mandated to scrutinise Zanu PF’s companies at the beginning of April this year.

In a separate interview over the issue, the Minister of Anti Corruption and Anti-monopolies, Didymus Mutasa said the stocktaking of the party’s operations was out of bounds for his ministry.

Mutasa added that as far as they way concerned, the probe was set up to look at maldminstration and not corruption, adding that if the team discovered any graft in the course of their duty, his ministry would wait for the cases to be referred to him.

Their mandate include investigating the companies financial operations, performance, shareholding, among other things. It has been widely reported that Speaker of Parliament Emmerson Mnangagwa will come off badly from the investigation as he sits on the boards of almost all the companies.

The committee’s other members of the investigating committee, are retired army commander Solomon Mujuru, the former Finance Minister, Dr Simba Makoni, Matebelaland North governor Obert Mpofu and the party’s deputy secretary for transport and welfare,Thoko Mathuthu.

However, as a result of their investigation shrouded in secrecy, the matter has been reduced to speculation, with unsubstantiated reports saying the reason why the team’s work has not be subjected to public consumption is that high profile individuals in the party had been found guilty of improper conduct.

As a result of the individual’s influence, the party is said to be trying to find a way that would not result in the findings splitting the party should the law be made to take its course. Zanu PF has several companies it runs, among them a holding company Zidco and Tregers Holdings, which mainly produces building materials and Catercraft which runs a catering service at Harare International Airport among others.

Several directors of Tregers are currently being tried by the courts for illegally dealing in foreign currency.
