Chombo a love rat, says wife By Staff
Reporter The sensational details of Chombo's bed-hopping are revealed in a civil suit filed by his wife Marian, who is demanding $2 billion from Silukhuni for having an adulterous affair with her husband. Chombo has been married to Marian since 1993. She has instructed legal firm Sinyoro Muunganirwa and Company to pursue her husband's mistress, according to the privately-owned Daily Mirror newspaper. Marian, who is a businesswoman and farmer in Raffingora, Mashonaland West, alleges Silukhuni confessed being intimate with Chombo and had vowed to continue with the relationship. Silukhuni's lawyers say she will not deny dating Chombo but she will insist she wasn't equally aware that Chombo was married. “On diverse occasions at places and particulars of which, are unknown to plaintiff (Marian), Silukhuni and Marian’s spouse wrongfully and unlawfully committed adultery, which defendant admitted to plaintiff on 11 February at Marlborough in Harare and vowed to persist with as a ‘customary wife’ of the plaintiff’s husband,” reads part of the declaration. Marian added, as a result of the adulterous affair between Silukhuni and her husband, she had lost Chombo’s companionship and her right to privacy because of the ex-TV personality’s “brazen public show”. “As a result of the Silukhuni’s adultery with the Marian’s spouse aforesaid, Marian lost the society and companionship of her aforesaid husband. Further, as a result of Silukhuni’s adultery aforesaid and her brazen public show and exercise thereof plaintiff’s right to privacy, dignity and reputation were infringed and she was exposed to public shame and pity,” the declaration further reads. In her defence filed on 18 March 2005, Silukhuni, through her lawyers, Chikumbirike and Associates, stated she was customarily married to the Minister and that she was unaware of Marian’s marriage to Chombo at the time of their traditional marriage. “Silukhuni avers that she is customarily married to the Marian’s husband and as such she is Ignatius Chombo’s customary wife. Defendant will further aver that at the time of her customary marriage to Marian’s husband she was unaware of the marriage between the plaintiff and her husband subsisted,” Silukhuni said in her defence." She also denies ever confessing to having an adulterous affair as claimed by Chombo’s wife in her declaration. Silukhuni also said when she married Chombo, customarily that is, the Chombo-Marian marriage was already on the rocks. “Silukhuni
will aver that by the time she knew of Marian’s husband and became
his customary wife, Marian's relationship with her husband was not in
any way disturbed by the relationship between her and her husband. Silukhuni
denies adultery or any such contentions stated in this paragraph and
puts plaintiff to the proof thereof as regards to each and every contention,”
said Silukhuni. |
