DJ Cleo, Rudeboy and Glen Lewis to rock London
By
Ezra Tshisa Sibanda Radio metro’s Glen Lewis, YFM’s Rudeboy Paul and tantalising DJ and music producer “All Star” DJ Cleo of Mzekezeke fame will battle it out at London’s exclusive Stratford Rex on Friday October 15 next month. South Africans and Zimbabweans living in the UK are in for a treat for an all-night long show which promises to be a thriller as the trio are well known in music circles for belting and giving out the best in their performances. “I love doing the Politburo Sessions, I enjoy entertaining the masses,” says Rudeboy, the loud in-your-face voice that the youth of Gauteng hear over the airwaves. Paul Mnisi joined YFM in 1997 and became an instant hit with the teenagers when he presented popular Jam Alley programme on SABC-TV’s Simunye on Fridays. The ultra-talented production wizard known as All Star DJ Cleo, has played an important role in the South African music industry because he has forcibly pulled kwaito music back to its roots and let it grow again with its own independent direction. The DJ credited with discovering and producing for the highly talented Mzekezeke, vibrant Brown Dash who is riding high on the crest of the wave with his new album Umthandazo Wabolova. “People need to come and witness how it’s done, how we do it and they will be able to know how ‘Sguqa Ngamadolo’ and ‘Akekh’uGogo’ came about,” Cleo told New Zimbabwe.com by telephone from South Africa this week. Londoners will be the first people to sample Mzekezeke’s latest album “Snacks” which is due for release on Saturday 16 October. “I can only promise UK people fireworks,” Cleo said. Glen Lewis popularly known as ‘Teddy Bear’ is Radio Metro’s finest DJ and arguably the best TV presenter on SABC channels. He is the master, the irresistible King of House Music. “I love working with my two bros, we always give out the best and at least they will be some variety on the day,” says soft spoken Glen. On the night the promoters will give out two return tickets to South Africa to lucky winners and various other prizes including DVDs, CDs and cash. Price of drinks would be reduced by about half from 9pm to 12 midnight. A spokesman for the organisers said: “We dubbed the show DJS AT WORK because the trio are known to be dedicated and serious when it comes to entertaining the paying public. We are only charging £15 for three best DJs in South Africa for a show which will last until 6am and lots of prizes to give away.” London is buzzing
