Exiled cricketer Olonga weds in Australia
By
Sports Editor Olonga met the 34-year-old physical education teacher while both were attending the Australian Institute of Sport's cricket program in Adelaide. The 27-year-old exiled cricketer, who has not returned to Zimbabwe since his public protest against President Robert Mugabe's regime during last year's World Cup, had little to say about the current crisis that the country found itself in. Zimbabwe cricket is on the downward track with up to 15 of the country's most experienced players protesting the dismissal of Heath Streak as skipper. Naturally, Olonga chose to focus on the positive things in his life, saying his marriage was the light at the end of the tunnel. "It has been a big year with lots of adjustments and changes but it has also been a great adventure," Olonga told Adelaide's Sunday Mail newspaper. "I know what it's like to have and not to have." Whilst the pair are unable
to return to Zimbabwe, they do intend having a second wedding in Kenya
with Olonga's family. Before that, however, they are set to travel to
Mauritius for their honeymoon. |
