SOUTH African house music pioneers DJ Fresh and Oskido arrived in the UK on Thursday for two gigs in London on Friday and Saturday.

Oskido declared on arrival at London's Heathrow Airport: "Kuzofiwa!"

Oskido needs no introduction. His Church Grooves have made him something of a cult hero in South Africa, where the ordinary music lover is slowly changing from the 90s phenomenon kwaito to house.

Oskido’s latest offering, Church Grooves 4, comes in the wake of a phenomenally successful first mix albums, Church Grooves 1, 2 and 3 which are all on their way to double platinum, thank you very much.

A reviewer said: "Church Grooves is an example of sterling South African dance music dabbling with international flavour and finding international favour."

The two DJs who work on Johannesburg's YFM will play at London's Twilight Nightclub on Friday and Saturday, according to a spokesman for the promoters DJ Gibson Ncube.

Oskido said: "There is nice stuff out, and I will be playing some samples of mixes that I have been making of Hugh Masekela, Oliver Mtukudzi, Andy Brown and many others."
